Adineta acuticornis: dorsal view. The last segment of the trunk is wider (bolster) and suddenly narrows foot-wise. The spurs are horn-like and curved backwards.

The arrows point to some round structures (which are out of focus in the lower left image). when the ciliary field is contracted the distal parts of the rakes are bent thus forming a light-refracting cavity which gives the illusion of some globules. But this is an optical artifact. This phenomenon might be an explanation for the structures that Berzins found in Adineta rhomboidea.
